Contrast is the perfect way to spice up anything. For example, painting a delicate white flower on the door of grey cabinets is an affordable way to add elegance. For homeowners that want to stick with the crisp, clean lines that modern styles are known for can still add some contrast to the area. Hang some black shelves on a white wall and then add in some straight white lines on the grey cabinets instead of a flower.
Before a homeowner begins picking out new kitchen cabinets, he or she should know the exact layout of the kitchen. Measurements should be taken, and an overall design theme should be chosen. This will make the ordering process much more streamlined. Standard lower cabinets should be 24 inches deep and 36 inches tall, while upper cabinets are usually at least 12 inches deep and 18 inches above the counter. However, these measurements are only a guideline and can be customized.
When selecting the type of timber to be used in your custom cabinets, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Your vision for your completed space will largely dictate what type of timber you use. But there are still many options in type, characteristics, and finish that will allow you to fully customize your cupboards.
Since shaker cabinets are known for clean and beautiful lines, they work perfect with simple designs in hardware, however ornate knobs and pulls can be fun as well. Add a retro flair with white shaker cabinets or inset versions with exposed hinges for a fun look. Brass is a tough but brilliant finish to combine with shaker cabinets. Anyone that is looking for a warm, welcoming kitchen will be pleased with the addition of brass pulls. Add them in with stainless steel appliances and counter tops, industrial elements, dark or medium stained cabinets and even subway tiles just to present a few ideas.
These colors may seem boring, but they give the perfect opportunity to include the ideal amount of contrast and style to every cooking area.
