Door Styles. Doors are one of the main features that contribute to the overall style of kitchen cabinets. Popular doors include the Shaker style, which features a flat center panel with a frame surrounding it on all four sides. Shaker doors are simple in nature with clean lines. Flat-panel doors have absolutely no detailing on their fronts, making them ideal for people seeking to add a minimalist flair to a home. Inset doors tend to be one of the most expensive options. This style actually sits inside the frame instead of resting on the outside. Exposed hinges are a hallmark of this type of cupboard. Louvered doors add a distinct beauty to any home, but they usually have a higher price tag.
Think Vertical: Maximize your storage space and look up. Select tall cabinets that reach all the way to the ceiling. If space remains above your cabinets, use that above-cabinet space for additional storage. If possible, store your pots and pans on a pot rack; you can get hanging racks that attach to the wall or ceiling.
Kitchen design has changed dramatically in the last decades. Modern kitchens are now a central hub for any home and rather than being designed merely for cooking, modern kitchen design seeks to turn the kitchen into a social centre for entertaining as well as allowing other activities such as working or doing the laundry. Kitchen technology is adapting rapidly and in the following decade we may see some real game-changing innovations to kitchen design.
