Use lighting to make your room look larger. Your kitchen improvement task will not be complete until you have added lights in all the right places. You can put them near the floor, under the upper cabinets to shine down on the counter tops, and above the upper cabinets to illuminate the ceiling. A single bright pendant light over your eating area will give your food an appetizing color. You can finish the layering of the lights with kitchen track lighting. Glass doors and windows going into other areas of the house will add to the openness and light.
Fluorescent lighting is also very helpful when it comes to ambient lighting because it does not produce a shadow so it make it ideal to light large areas if used with the proper fixture. Along with offering light without shadow it offers a uniform and eye pleasing light that is easy to use with dimmer switches and low voltage lighting. One thing to watch out for is if you have very shiny materials for surfaces in your kitchen you need to make sure that you position the light correctly or you will be left with a lot of potential glare.
In most cases, you will find this design of light in work areas or decorative spaces. This is because of the designs ability to provide constant downward lighting. If you want focused light over your workspace in a craft room, reading nook, or guest bedroom, consider using a pendant light for a more focused option. Did you know that some people are actually replacing vanity lighting in their bathrooms with pendants? When placed strategically, these types of lights provide a more even splash of illumination across an area. For example, when used in the bathroom, you will not have to struggle to see what you are doing when shaving or applying makeup. Pendant lights work well over a dining room table or over the stove in the kitchen.
But sometimes, the rule of three is not applied. In some modern kitchens with a smaller island, there are two but larger pendant lights. The two pendants illuminate the kitchen island, and they are big enough that three pendants would already be overwhelming. The amount of light you need and the size of the pendant lights you are using trumps the rule of three or other rules.
What are Pendant Lights? Pendant lights dangle from the ceiling offering a subtle more focused light in specific locations. Drum pendant lighting alludes to the drum shaped lampshade over it that helps to focus the light into the area below the light, offering a unique decorative style to the lamp.
